Death of Michael Jackson

I must admit, upon hearing about the death of Michael Jackson I am a bit sad. I was born in the 70s and grew up in the 80s and 90s. Michael Jackson's music was a part of my childhood. Hearing of his death feels like a bit of my childhood has died. I remember watching the premeire of the "Thriller" video and commenting on the "mini-movie". That video changed the course of music videos forever. I remember "We Are The World" and how Michael seemed to be larger than the top artist that helped sing that song. He always seemed larger than life. He was the epitome of superstardom. And now he is gone.
There were definitely things about and in his life that rubbed me the wrong way. The molestation charges were very unsettling and disturbing. His eccentric behavior was very curious. His "marriages" were a bit peculiar. But, the thing that always bothered me the most was the amount of plastic surgery he received during his lifetime. As great of an entertainer as he was, and as many fans as he had around the world, He was never truly happy with himself. Instead of making him look better, the surgeries sort of dehumanized him. They made him the butt of many jokes. He became downright scary after a awhile. So what do you give a man who has it all? How about love? Love for himself, because through his music and philanthropy, he definitely cared for others.

Thanks for (some of my personal favorites):
  • Remember The Time
  • Beat It
  • Thriller
  • Off The Wall
  • The Way You Make Me Feel
  • Scream
  • Bad
  • Smooth Criminal
  • P.Y.T
  • Say, Say, Say (Paul McCartney)
In the end, R.I.P. Michael.

  1. That was DEEP!!! That makes me think about what his spirit really wanted. When given the choice of ascending to heaven and finally getting that love or coming back to this world, i guess it was easy to choose.

    RIP MJ!!
