5 Reasons You Should Be Writing Poetry

Top 5 reasons to write poetry:

5.  You can be as silly as you want.  Poetry does not have to be serious and you can get as crazy and outrageous as you can stand.

4. Writing poetry gives you an outlet.  Whatever you are feeling, you can express it through poetry.

3. Poetry gives you an excuse to be romantic.  There are few things more romantic than writing verses for your spouse/loved one.  Next time you want to do something romantic, write poetry.  The nice thing is it doesn't have to be "good".  (see reason 5)

2. Poetry is challenging.  And our brains crave challenges.  If you've never written poetry, go ahead and give it a try.  Find a word that rhymes with orange, I dare you!

And the number one reason to write poetry is...

.
.
.
1. Poetry allows you to say the things you may not be able to in ordinary circumstances.  That's the beauty of poetry, you can totally lose yourself and find yourself at the same time.

So, go ahead and start writing.  Send some verses to a loved one and watch their faces light up the room.

Peace,
